A Dallas police officer is under investigation and will likely be disciplined, after commanders say the cop fired a pepper ball gun without permission. Commanders say the officer deployed the pepper dust, firing about 13 rounds against a building. Witnesses describe the incident as frightening. "People under it were screaming and one woman was wiping tears from her eyes," Avi Adelmann, who saw the ordeal, said. Adelmann says it just after the bars closed early Sunday morning, when the officer fired above the smal crowd. There was no fight.

Bitcoin releases version 0.3

http://sourceforge.net

"How's this for a disruptive technology? Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer network based digital currency with no central bank, and no transaction fees. Using a proof-of-work concept, nodes burn CPU cycles searching for bundles of coins, broadcasting their findings to the network. She tells them: It's not me you want, it's a man with the same birth date and a similar name. Agents always confirm that and let her go.

Then it happens again. And again.

Parents to be jailed for not going to parent-teacher conferences

http://www.google.com

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said that's indicative of a larger issue in Detroit, where the lack of making parents accountable for their children partly is blamed on elevated truancy and dropout rates, as well as a recent rash of violent crimes involving teens.

Worthy has a new idea she hopes will fix the problem: Jail parents for up to three days for repeatedly missing scheduled parent-teacher conferences.
