EPA Encourages Recruiting Students for ‘Energy Patrols" at Schools

http://cnsnews.com

Inmates at the "kid jails" are brainwashed to control others into submission by having energy patrols. Of course, when the energy is owned by nobody, and shared by all, isn't this the only way to encourage conservation?

Food Truck Shut Down For Not Having a Permit that Doesn’t Exist

http://ij.org

In an interview with the Buffalo News, Pete was outraged: “The way we've been treated, I can't say it's anything other than being bullied.” In addition, he actively tried to comply with all the relevant paperwork before he started selling. He called town officials to see if any permits were needed and was informed he didn’t need any. Sadly, this is the third time in less than a month that a food truck has been forced to stop vending in Amherst without a permit.

NJ Governor will not sign 'Seatbelts for Dogs Bill' calls it 'stupid'

http://www.courierpostonline.com

Christie recently said that a bill that would require pet owners to buckle their animals into seat belts while driving is “stupid,” and that he won’t sign it. No argument here. The bill is an egregious example of nanny-state governing, the product of legislators believing that most anything that crosses their mind can and should be turned into law.

Terrance Huff and The Good Wife | The Agitator

http://www.theagitator.com

Radley Balko: So last night’s season premiere of The Good Wife was almost a word-for-word adaptation of my piece on the Terrance Huff traffic stop for Huffington Post from earlier this year. Everything from the setting (Madison County, Illinois) to the falsely alerting drug dog, the bad cop, the illegal traffic stop, the illegal search, the forfeiture corridor, it was all in there. They even threw in a little twist about recording cops in Illinois. They also mentioned Huff’s video, “Breakfast in Collinsville.”

Homeland Security Chief Doesn't Use Email

http://techdailydose.nationaljournal.com

One might expect the lady in charge of the US Federal Government's Homeland Security department—the person leading US "cyber security" policy—to have an inbox full of briefings, encrypted strategies, and plans for keeping America safe from "Terrorists." But, she doesn't. In fact, Janet Napolitano, in her own words, doesn't use email "at all."

How to make the police more accountable- play the veteran card

http://www.courier-journal.com

Judging the man to be a homeless panhandler, a police officer asked him to leave, a confrontation ensued, a Taser was drawn, other officers were called and the man was taken down and handcuffed. The man cuffed and threatened with jail was neither homeless nor panhandling. He was a Purple Heart and multiple Bronze Star recipient. His case has resulted in an internal police investigation, sharp questioning from Fort Knox officials, and a potential lawsuit. But it also has prompted a new mandatory training program for police. Louisville Metro Police Lt. Col.

From the "when all else fails, lower your standards" department: Average reading and writing SAT scores for high school students declined to their lowest levels (dropping 1 point to 496, while math remained the same at 514). The article does note that more lower-income students with less access to high-quality education are taking the test, possibly providing an explanation for the lower test scores.

Court OKs toll road operators detaining drivers who use large bills

http://thenewspaper.com

"The fact that a person is not free to leave on his own terms at a given moment, however, does not, by itself, mean that the person has been 'seized' within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment," the court wrote in its unsigned decision. "In Florida, a person's right and liberty to use a highway is not absolute; it may be regulated in the public interest through reasonable and reasonably executed regulations." The judges found it was reasonable for Fanueil to set regulations for use of the road -- including the types of acceptable payment.

Middle Schooler Forced to Take Drug Test to Join Scrapbooking Club

http://reason.com

A 12 year old girl wanted to join the "scrapbooking club" at her middle school in Milford, Pennsylvania. One day she took home a permission slip. It said that to participate in the club or any school sport, she would have to consent to drug testing. “They were asking a 12-year-old to pee in a cup,” Kathy Kiederer said. “I have a problem with that. They’re violating her right to privacy over scrapbooking?"

TSA detains woman. "You're not a threat. It's just your attitude."

http://www.youtube.com

A woman was at the Houston airport in August for a layover. At the gate they were "testing" everyone's liquids. She drank her water instead of letting them test it, and was not allowed to board her flight. TSA tells her that she was kicked off her flight not because she was a threat, but because of her "attitude."
