...I do some Googling around and confirm that in some multi dwelling units they run fiber to the building but not to the apartments. They use VDSL and the existing phonelines to get the data connection to the unit. I ask the installer why not use the existing coax. Especially since they had to run it anyway and it is spec’ed appropriately. He didn’t know.

Salmonella contamination at a Nevada food-flavoring plant may trigger the recall of as many as 10,000 products, according to a Consumers Union scientist.
PepsiCo Inc. joined Procter & Gamble Co., Nestle SA and McCormick & Co. yesterday in recalling food containing hydrolyzed vegetable protein, or HVP.
To date, there are no known illnesses associated with the contaminated HVP, which is sometimes referred to as a “natural flavor” on ingredient labels
