Manchester, New Hampshire - The Free State Project is using the new online currency Bitcoin as a creative new
promotional tool – ironically giving away free money, literally, to every subscriber on its mailing list.
Libertarian hero Ron Paul stands to benefit from a little-known phenomenon stirring in New Hampshire: Fans of hands-off government are migrating en masse to the state where license plates boast the motto “Live Free or Die”—and where, coincidentally, the presidential primary season kicks off.

We used to think that New Hampshire government, a pretty local enterprise given the small size of our state, was a true government of and by the people. But strange things are happening in our State House, sometimes so quickly that nobody has time to react.

Read more »The organizational effort for this year's event got a late start, and even later momentum. The existence of several competing events made securing speakers, including a keynote, difficult. The lead organizer decided to hold off on ticket sales until after the keynote was announced. In November, a keynote was selected but unexpectedly backed out. By the time a replacement was secured, it was early-December.

Participants in the annual Porcupine Freedom Festival held a signing ceremony to inaugurate their founding document, The Shire Society Declaration, which some have called a new declaration of independence.
