I KNEW it! Proof that at least one police department has quotas for speeding tickets. They were even taken off normal patrols to issue moving violations. This story says they were supposed to write 18 tickets a day. Several cops are sueing LAPD for this as quotas are illegal.
Read more »Oceanside, CA Police Officer stops open-carry, freedom to record advocate and... actually acts like a civilized human being. Not enough to convince me that we aren't living in a police state, but I think it's worth giving this cop some credit. He allows the open-carry, he almost encourages this guy's right to record the interaction. I'm concerned that guys like this might be making all the rest look good!

Police Chief-turned-District Attorney George Gascón is drafting a plan to remake San Francisco's swamped criminal justice system by moving thousands of petty offenders into a network of volunteer-run community courts.
