On August 30, Seattle Police Ofc. Ian Burk murdered John T. Williams for holding a legally-sized whittling knife. Williams was a half-deaf Native American woodcarver who was also wearing headphones at the time. Birk claimed Williams refused to drop the legally-sized knife and approached him, but just-released autopsy results show Williams was in fact walking away from his executioner at the time he was shot. Police video of the incident still has not been released.

Accident resulted in death of two sisters
Former Illinois State trooper Matt Mitchell is asking the state to compensate him for injuries from a crash in which he hit and killed two Collinsville sisters at triple-digit speeds.
Mitchell filed a worker's compensation case on Sept. 13 against the Illinois State Police. The case is pending.
