DOJ Raids Gibson Guitars looking for Illegal Wood

http://www.redstate.com

"The Federal Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. has suggested that the use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal, not because of U.S. law, but because it is the Justice Department’s interpretation of a law in India. (If the same wood from the same tree was finished by Indian workers, the material would be legal.) This action was taken without the support and consent of the government in India."

Why is the Government Driving Folks Off Their Land?

http://reason.com

From Reason.tv. Nuisance Abatement Teams in the Antelope Valley, CA, are enforcing ridiculous code violations in order to get people to stop living on their land. The Mayor, Mike Antonovich, responsible for enforcing these rules is now, not-so-ironically, heavily involved in promoting an "inland port", a high desert corridor, and a high speed rail line through in the same area.

Salt Lake City: Mayor to outlaw idling vehicles

http://www.sltrib.com

The evidence is shocking when viewed from the Salt Lake Valley’s canyons: A brown stew of stagnant air swallowing clean air and stealing views like a suffocating shroud. That gunky blanket, seen especially during steamy summer months and winter inversions, is nearly as visible from the valley floor. And it has persuaded Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker to fight back. He wants to outlaw vehicle idling (beyond two minutes) as a means to cleanse the air.

Free pot in exchange for registering to vote?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com

A medical marijuana shop's offer of free pot in exchange for registering to vote appears to have gone up in smoke. Your Healthy Choice Clinic of Lansing, Mich., had been offering a half gram on its website ahead of a vote for city council seats and after the council approved capping the number of medical marijuana dispensaries within city limits and setting a $1,000 application fee.

Woman in Oak Park Mi Faces Misdemeanor Charge for Vegetable Garden

http://www.myfoxdetroit.com

"That's not what we want to see in a front yard," said Oak Park City Planner Kevin Rulkowski.

Why? The city is pointing to a code that says a front yard has to have suitable, live, plant material. The big question is what's "suitable?"

"If you look at the definition of what suitable is in Webster's dictionary, it will say common. So, if you look around and you look in any other community, what's common to a front yard is a nice, grass yard with beautiful trees and bushes and flowers," the city bureaucrat said.
