Over the past 15 years, more than a dozen states have legalized marijuana for medical use, easing pain and helping the seriously ill.

But, reports CBS News correspondent John Blackstone, the federal government claims what began as a humanitarian effort is becoming a criminal enterprise.

Troopers operating a sobriety checkpoint Friday night at the Mattydale Thruway exit charged a man with possession of untaxed cigarettes, a misdemeanor, after they noticed he had a box filled with nearly 30 cartons of cigarettes in his car.

Automated ticketing vendor American Traffic Solutions (ATS) filed suit Tuesday against Knoxville, Tennessee for its failure to issue tickets for turning right on a red light -- and that is costing the company a lot of money.
