Wesley Snipes Sentenced to 3 Years Prison For Not Paying Income Tax

Evidently we as a society are better off with a millionaire in prison for not paying his taxes. Absolutely insanity.

Friday, a federal appeals court upheld the lower court decision that actor Wesley Snipes' three-year prison sentence for tax evasion. The 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals upheld Snipes' 2008 sentence for three misdemeanor counts of failing to file tax returns for several years.

Debtors Prisons Coming Back, Despite Abolishment by 1899!

An employee was arrested at her workplace for not filling out and sending back a form demanded by the creditor. The client, Barry says, suffered the humiliation of having to have her boss come to the jail and post a bond before she could be released. The bond money, he added, was turned over to the creditor.

Man jailed by courts after courts bankrupt him

Jeff Dolan spent Father’s Day in jail, locked away in jail because he couldn’t pay child support, but he couldn’t pay child support because he was unemployed and he was unemployed because the court took his driver’s license for failure to pay child support, after he went bankrupt paying his court costs.

Minnesotans are being thrown in jail for being in debt to private co's

You committed no crime, but an officer is knocking on your door. More Minnesotans are surprised to find themselves being locked up over debts. "The law enforcement system has unwittingly become a tool of the debt collectors," said Michael Kinkley, an attorney in Spokane, Wash., who has represented arrested debtors. "The debt collectors are abusing the system and intimidating people, and law enforcement is going along with it."
