Respected British scientist James Lovelock claims that we need "a more authoritative world" in order to head off climate change, instead of an "egalitarian world where everyone can have their say." He cites war as an example of an instance where people's freedoms of choice are suspended, for the benefit of the greater population. Of course, governments don't start wars, do they?
