Woman fights Williamstown to feed her allergenic kids home raised food

Jessica and her family moved a to rural homestead in hopes of raising food for her kids who have extreme food allergies. After receiving a verbal okay from the township allowing livestock animals such as chickens and goats she purchased a plot of land outside of the town Williamstown, MI. 70 Percent of Ground Beef at Supermarkets Contains ‘Pink Slime’

Gerald Zirnstein and his fellow USDA scientist, Carl Custer, both warned against using what the industry calls “lean finely textured beef,” widely known now as “pink slime,” but their government bosses overruled them.
The “pink slime” does not have to appear on the label because, over objections of its own scientists, USDA officials with links to the beef industry labeled it meat.

“The under secretary said, ‘it’s pink, therefore it’s meat,’” Custer told ABC News.

New federal license law could kill the family farm

The new law would require anyone who drives a tractor to get a Commercial Drivers License. If a CDL was required the cost for food will increase dramatically. During times such as harvest farmers need to work long hours to get crops harvested before they spoil in the fields. CDL requirement would reduce the labor pool since the minimum age for a CDL is 21.
