Burlington’s mayor and the police department are using the same word to describe a Lamoille County firing range’s edict that city officers are unwelcome to train there in a dispute over gun control:

“Unfortunate.”

They call him the Petaluma Batman, because is true identity is unknown, even carefully protected by the people of Petaluma, California. Even when ABC news covered his story they wrote "We do know his true identity, but we've agreed to keep it confidential for his and his family's safety."

Petaluma Batman is a true caped crusader, as you can see in his photo, and he patrols the streets of his hometown. His motto, "a hero can be anyone." I can certainly get behind that.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has launched an internal probe of the events leading up to the suicide of internet activist Aaron Swartz, who was facing federal charges for allegedly hacking into the school's journal archives.

Furor over Swartz' death has reached the White House in the form of a petition asking for the removal of U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz who pressed the case against Swartz.
