Caddo Parish District 3 Commissioner Michael Williams said after seeing a group of young men at a local Walmart wearing pajama pants that revealed one young man's private parts, he decided to push for an ordinance that would prohibit wearing pajama pants in public. "Pajamas are designed to be worn in the bedroom at night," Williams said. "If you can't (wear pajamas) at the Boardwalk or courthouse, why are you going to do it in a restaurant or in public? Today it's pajamas," Williams said. "Tomorrow it's underwear. Where does it stop?"

While no names are banned outright, they can't be more than 100 characters long, use an unearned title or be offensive to the general public. They also have to be actual words, not numbers or symbols. Some of the rejected names: Justice, Princess, King, Bishop, Lucifer, Messiah, Christ, Mafia No Fear, Anal, V8, and the symbol *. Somehow, Violence, Chardonnay and Number 16 Bus Shelter did get by the registry.

The consequences for parents arrested for their child's truancy include up to one year in county jail and/or a $2,000 fine for each child not in compliance. "Sometimes we have to reinforce the idea that it is a crime to not send your child to school," said Chief Deputy DA Karen Bell. "We don't want to take that route, but some parents force our hand and give us no other choice but to file criminal charges."
