Read more »Police say they were in the process of arresting Jordan M. McLean on a warrant when they decided to search his pockets. According to an arrest report, they found a single donut wrapped in a tissue in one of his pockets. Police say McLean told them he had just bought the donut while in Thorntons, but the officer spoke with the store clerk who allegedly told police, "she had not sold any pastries." The donut was "not recoverable" according to police. McLean was arrested for misdemeanor theft.

A Policeman in Worcestershire, England, was on duty alone and saw a suspicious light in the Clent Hills. He went to investigate the light, warning his Sergeant over radio that he might need backup. After 20 minutes of investigating, he radioed back explaining that the light was actually just the moon.

After the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles and subsequent withdrawal of the country's National Olympic Committee, athletes from the country who qualified for the Games were allowed to compete independently. Three such athletes qualified.
