Sometimes the NYPD's inanity is so perfect, so immaculately risible, that you just want to burst into applause and toss a bouquet of roses onto the hood of a squad car. Today is one of those days. According to a tipster, a cop parked in the bike lane on First Avenue near 23rd Street proceeded to write tickets for cyclists who weren't using the bike lane, because they had to ride around him to get by.

This is nothing new, of course. Scumbag cops. Same story time and time again, but I'm sharing this because of a few lines written in here. The chief doesn't even try to sugar coat his meaning. Here, this sums it all up....

“Any dog owner would be upset and we understand that,” said Chief Skip Holbrook, Huntington Police Dept.

Chief Holbrook, says his officer had to make a split second decision and was justified in his actions.

A former Pleasant Hill police officer who stole methamphetamine from an evidence room and crashed his squad car was sentenced Friday to probation.

Former Sgt. Daniel Hebert Edwards, 42, pleaded guilty in August of possession of a controlled substance, operating while intoxicated, and third-degree burglary. On Friday, he received one year of probation for the drug-possession charge, one year for operating while intoxicated, and three years for burglary.

An article I wrote for Cop Block (copblock.org) about a recent police shooting in Phoenix where a cop who killed a man was arrested on the testimony of his partner. Police Union bailed shooter out. His partner and accuser is not a union member (Arizona is a 'right to work' state where there are no closed shops, even in government).
