July 8, 2010 The Los Angeles police beating of Rodney King resonated, in part, because it was caught on video. Now, most modern cell phones have video cameras. Many police departments struggle to draw the line between citizens' and journalists' rights to film arrests, and their officers' rights to privacy.

Police arrest a citizen, openly threaten him and point a gun at him, then arrest and illegally detain him for 45 minutes. They also smashed his cell phone in an unsuccessful attempt to destroy the recording made of him.

"After a decade in which DNA evidence has freed over 100 people nationwide, it's become clear that DNA evidence isn't just proving wrongdoing by criminals, it's proving wrongdoing by police and prosecutors.
