CA: Sheriff Wants Radio Station To Stop Drug Raid Broadcasts

Community station KMUD, based in southern Humboldt County, the unofficial capital of marijuana cultivation in California, says its reports are an essential tool in protecting the community from police abuse.

The broadcasts grew from a citizens' monitoring project that began after the Reagan Administration in 1983 launched the huge, wasteful and ineffective "marijuana eradication campaign" known as CAMP, or Campaign Against Marijuana Planting.

California's Last auto Plant Shuts its Doors

O.C. city sues couple who removed front lawn to save water

It was only a matter of time: The dictionary has been banned!

The entire Menifee Union School District has banned all copies of the 10th edition of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary because the dictionary includes a definition of the term "oral sex." An unknown source reported a faint smell of failure permeating the area. "It smelled a bit like burning paper and ink," said the unnamed source.

CA Bill to Legalize Pot Advances, Law Enforcement Complains

A bill to legalize marijuana in California was approved by a key committee of the Assembly, in spite of opposition from law enforcement.

Assemblyman Danny Gilmore, a former CHP commander, said the estimated $1.3 billion in tax revenue is not worth the grief that will be caused by legalization. Gilmore uses the logical fallacy of the slippery slope arguement: "What's next? Are we going to legalize methamphetamines, cocaine?"
