LAPD to Let Cops Off for Misconduct instead of Punishing them

http://www.latimes.com

More Los Angeles police officers who have used excessive force, driven while intoxicated, falsely imprisoned people or committed other serious misconduct are being let off without punishment, by a new approach to discipline at the LAPD. Called "Conditional Official Reprimand", instead of handing down suspensions without pay, as was the norm for such offenses, police officials are putting officers on notice that another gaffe of the same sort will bring a severe penalty and possible termination.

Police blame grandmother for cop shooting 7yr old girl.

http://www.youtube.com

Police attempt yet another cover up....this time after shooting a sleeping 7yr old girl. If you or I "accidently" shot and killed a child while forcing our way into someone's home, I'm guessing we'd be in jail. Cop says grandmother caused him to discharge firearm, victims claim the gun was shot from outside and ....these cops are CRAZY!!!

Supreme Court Rules: Cops Need NO WARRANT To Enter

http://www.latimes.com

"What Fourth Amendment?" In an 8-1 ruling today, the US Supreme Court upheld the legality of evidence obtained by police breaking down the door to an apartment--not because they saw suspect they were pursuing dash behind it, but because they smelled marijuana smoke and heard the sound of a flushing toilet. To add insult to injustice, their original suspect was in a different apartment.

Brothel-Busting Cops Run Their Own Brothel

http://www.sfgate.com

"Punish enemies and reward friends" would be a fitting motto for Christopher Butler, a Concord, CA police officer who commanded the department's anti-drug task force and for Norman Wielsch, a California state narcotics agent. These two members of California's "finest" are accused of opening a brothel and keeping it well-supplied with drugs from the evidence locker, even as they routinely shut down brothels on behalf of the police.

Bell (Calif) Police Memo Details "Baseball Game" Targeting Drivers

http://www.ktla.com

Not that this should be a surprise from Bell, California...
A memo titled the "Bell Police Department Baseball Game," assigns "singles," "doubles," "triples" and "home runs" to increasingly more serious infractions, starting with parking tickets and moving on to vehicle impounds and felony arrests of drivers. Police officers competed to issue tickets, impound cars and arrest motorists.

Competence, Intelligence Illegal in North Carolina Without a Licence

http://www.newsobserver.com

A North Carolina man finds himself answering a complaint before a state licensing board for "practicing engineering without a license" NOT because he was representing himself as a qualified engineer, but because his petition to the government for redress of grievances appeared "to be engineering level work".
