http://www.lasvegassun.com

Rank-and-file police from Connecticut to Chicago to Los Angeles have opposed what some experts say is a slowly emerging trend in the U.S. to collect officers' DNA. "From a civil liberties standpoint, there are a lot of red flags," said Connecticut Trooper Steven Rief, former president of the state police union. http://www.youtube.com

Imagine you own a million-dollar piece of property free and clear, but then the federal government and local law enforcement agents announce that they are going to take it from you, not compensate you one dime, and then use the money they get from selling your land to pad their budgets—all this even though you have never so much as been accused of a crime, let alone convicted of one.

Irish Woman Jailed Indefinitely for Illegal Forest

http://www.dailymail.co.uk

Ms. Teresa Treacy loves her 100 acres of trees, which is why she's refused the demands of Ireland's state-owned Electricity Supply Board to chop them down to make way for new power lines. Claiming that her homestead is a country haven from city life, she simply does not want the power lines to cross her property, at the expense of trees she's tended for decades.

http://www.latimes.com

Xmas Display Cited for Unlicensed Elec Wiring and "Too Close to Curb"

http://abclocal.go.com

Every holiday season, Mary Groth performs magic turning her home on North Broadway into a Christmas playground... 30,000 lights worth. She was issued a summons for not having a certificate for electrical wiring. Toy soldiers were deemed an obstruction for being too close to the curb. If it's not, Groth will have to take down the display.
