Sedgwick, Maine has done what no other town in the United States has done. The town unanimously passed an ordinance giving its citizens the right “to produce, process, sell, purchase, and consume local foods of their choosing.” This includes raw milk, locally slaughtered meats, and just about anything else you can imagine. It’s also a decided bucking of state and federal laws.

San Francisco's big push for low-flow toilets has turned into a multimillion-dollar plumbing stink. Skimping on toilet water has resulted in more sludge backing up inside the sewer pipes, said Tyrone Jue, spokesman for the city Public Utilities Commission. That has created a rotten-egg stench near AT&T Park and elsewhere, especially during the dry summer months.

The law will be enforced in a similar way to that banning public urination, with local chiefs tasked with bringing noxious gasbags to justice. However, the minister has been challenged by the solicitor general, who says that the justice minister's interpretation of the offending Local Courts Bill clause is taking the piss. U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson accepted without trial the states' argument that the new law violates people's rights by forcing them to buy health insurance by 2014 or face penalties. At issue was whether the government is reaching beyond its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce by requiring citizens to purchase health insurance or face tax penalties.

The Los Angeles City Controller said there was insufficient evidence that the cameras reduced accidents, and questioned whether if they were even at the most dangerous intersections. However, the real lunacy of this program is that judges have ruled that the citations are unenforceable, because a human being did not actually hand the citation to the offender. 45% of the citations remain unpaid, for a total of $2.6 million. So the City of course is going to renew the contract with the company that runs the red light cameras!
Read more »In the town of Braintree Massachusetts you must be 21 years old to sell precious metals to a dealer and the dealer must wait 30 days before selling acquired precious metals to a refinery. Do they realize how much the price can swing in 30 days? Not to mention the use of gold and silver is specifically authorized in the Constitution, which I would agree is a worthless piece of paper.
