Compare the United States of 2012 to the United States of 1962. In 1962, the government regulated the price and route of every airplane, every freight train, every truck and every merchant ship in the United States, the price of natural gas, the interest on every checking account, and the commission on every purchase or sale of stock. The problem with this lie

wtfk 26 weeks 15 hours 37 min 42 sec ago

...is that it's not true since 2001. On 9/11 every jack-boot came up with his own clever idea to screw everything up. In response, the left got in power, and instead of reversing all the screw-ups, started interpreting the walking papers the right got as an opportunity to INSERT THEIR OWN screw-ups.

It's nice to say it's getting better, but since 2001, there have been far more losses than gains--at least WITHIN the US. That said, there are many countries where liberty is on the upswing.

David J. Frum (/ˈfrʌm/; born June 30, 1960) is a Canadian American journalist active in both the American and Canadian political arenas. A former economic speechwriter for President George W. Bush, he is also the author of the first "insider" book about the Bush presidency.
