Bono's ONE foundation under fire for giving little to charity

http://www.dailymail.co.uk

Bono's anti-poverty foundation ONE is under pressure to explain its lavish salaries after it was revealed that only a small percentage of money it raises reaches the needy.
The non-profit organisation set up by the U2 frontman received almost £9.6m in donations in 2008 but handed out only £118,000 to good causes (1.2 per cent).
The figures published by the New York Post also show that £5.1m went towards paying salaries.

Bono's Charity Deeds

I have heard certain people mention One is a good person and indeed he is. It's kinda inspiring to hear that he has also been active in helping Haiti victims, and that he supports policy requiring oil companies to report any payments to government officials, which particularly hurts people in poor countries. Bono had been a relentless advocate in such programs and policies, ensuring world leaders keep their commitments. I know of certain local and international artists that gains recognition too in similar acts of benevolence like charity holiday greeting cards in which they receive royalty when people choose their cards.

There are some good charities.

Most are nothing more than a con but some do what they say they will do. Good Will does employ the handicapped who would otherwise have nothing to do. They also offer a service to poor people who can't afford retail. And they keep useful items out of landfills for a little longer. It is just important for the donor to make sure that the charity is legitimate.

Thats how it goes, thats why you cant donate squat to anyone anymore because its always a scam. Its always the same, like 80% of all donations go to the con-artist that collect them. I remember the ''feed the children'' scam that happened a few yrs. ago, it showed these people unloading boxes and boxes off a plane and a reporter grabbed one and it was an empty box as all of them were. Its sad to say but if you give to anyone anymore your just being suckered. Reality is a bitch.
