I think Campbell is missing something about libertarianism, it doesn't have to be an all or nothing proposal. What binds libertarians together is the ideal that all of them want at least some level of smaller government and greater personal liberty. Still, it's good to read dissenting opinions once in a while to keep you fresh.

I had a hard time reading the article because his argument is so old and tired. He finds the ideas libertarianism idealistic, but I assume he think the idea of a world wide empire is not idealistic.
The idea of libertarianism is the idea of non-aggression. I suppose the author thinks that most people go around stealing and murdering to get what they want. I'd hate to live in his neighborhood.
