Queensland police will forego their speed camera vans and go back to pounding the beat if the state government has its way.
The plan for civilian operators to take over the cameras comes as the government and police union wrangle over a three-year pay deal.
Union leaders will meet with Premier Anna Bligh in Brisbane on Friday at 3pm (AEST).
The government has offered 2.5 per cent over three years, prompting a police union rejection and a television advertising campaign demanding more.
