I'm not a hacker, but I agree that if these guys could do it, they should go deeper and work on wiping out the data in the Government computer systems.
When the Wall came down, what did the people in Eastern Europe and Russia do? They went into the government archives to destroy the records. All the spying that was done on everyone for decades. Paper records were burned and archives were opened to the public.
Denial of service is a good start, and I don't know what it would take to break in deeper or to plant a virus, but that would help us far more.
