During a drug raid on a war veteran's home, a total of 12 police officers broke in at approximately 9PM while Matthew David Stewart (who works a night shift) was asleep. Noticing the commotion, he mistook the police for burglars and opened fire.
5 police officers were injured, and one was killed. Matthew David Stewart suffered non life threatening injuries and is currently in a hospital.
Matthew was believed to be in possession of a marijuana plant which he owned for personal use. The drug raid was because of that plant.

At least 6 presumably "well trained" law enforcement officials attacked this guy and he scored 4 critical hits and might have had more if the brave, brave officers hadn't been wearing armor. The round piece of metal on the suspect's left-inner breast pocket in the picture is the Army's Expert Marksman badge - this doesn't mean much, but I wanted to call attention to it.
Ok, I'm being a heartless jerk, but do you think the family of the dead cop can internalize the fact that their loved one died because some overbearing control freaks didn't like the fact that this kid had a PLANT in his house? I wonder if the critically injured officers feel justified in their violent, unnecessary actions or if they're aware of the egg on their faces...near the bullet holes.
Chalk up two more lives destroyed in the senseless drug war.
