Great article about patriotism vs principles

Nationalism, or patriotism, are emotions I don't share. I find them on par with racism: the belief that one is inherently superior on the basis of the involuntary membership to some collective body. I also think that nationalism and patriotism are inherently against the fundamental principles that our nation was founded upon.

Socrates put principle above nationalism, which at the time was to say that he would teach the truth even if the truth conflicted with Athens.

One thing that is an example of patriotism is what James has done. Oh, please let this Jesse James, Sandra Bullock, and Michelle McGee thing stop. I could not care less if there is a Jesse James Nazi photo, I really could not. I'd get payday cash advances to pay off the right person to have this idiotic insanity disappear completely. Why does everyone care? It's the dumbest thing in the world. Think of it this way – if YOUR spouse had an affair, would Sandra Bullock care about your plight? Of course not – she's a member of the supposed elite, us common individuals who pay to see her movies (not all of which are worth paying for) that supply her with her success are irrelevant. Why does anybody care about this?
