Old 80's 4 cylinders getting 70mpg+

You should never look to gubmint or corporations to solve problems you can solve yourself.
Remember the old 4 cylinder cars from the 80's like Tercels, Rabbits, B210's? They got great gas mileage (40mpg range or higher).
Since Gas mileage is tied very closely to vehicle weight.....what some guys are are doing now for example is taking old VW Rabbit convertibles (which are already lightweight and safer than cutting structural metal out of the frame yourself) and putting "diesel" engines in them.
These modded diesel Rabbits are getting 70+ mpg!
I found a good site called ecomodder dot com with lots of cool stuff like that. Then swing over to Youtube and build an HHO module to run hydrogen with gasoline to add another 15+ mpg. Thats 85 mpg right there you can get yourself being creative.
The Internets are the place for answers, not gubmint or corpopolies.
