Lansing passes smoking ban, residents continue to exit Michigan

As the legislative year ended in Michigan, the new reported that "Gov. Jennifer Granholm has gone to a Lansing brew pub to sign a law banning smoking."

Michigan lost 89,844 residents from 2005 to 2008, according to a new MSU report released today. … MSU Land Policy Institute Director Soji Adelaja said the decline was largely attributable to people who moved to other states seeking job opportunities and "better quality of life." I would say that "better quality of life" is a place where the ruling class doesn't think that passing more laws will make people want to live there.
