H.R. 5741 introduced by Charles Rangle has been introduced to a congressional Committee. The bill requires every citizen of the United States, and every other person residing in the United States, who is between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform a period of national service as prescribed in this title unless exempted under the provisions of this title.

Too soon to be alarmed

This is something like the fourth time this rep has introduced legislation like this. I don't think it will get past committee. There are not even any co-sponsors of the bill. And even if it does pass, which is highly unlikely, it will spark a massive amount of civil disobedience. The public just won't go for it. Even from a military standpoint, it a bad idea, drafting soldiers just gets you bad soldiers. I don't think this is anything to sweat over, it won't happen.

Because it will force people to awaken from their apathy...I tend to disagree...Look what happened it Vietnam...The politicians just ignored the hippies for the most part.
