My tweet was silly, but the police reaction was absurd

For one joke on Twitter I've had my civil liberties trampled on, and have now got a criminal record. Isn't this against free speech?

He intentionally posts something that could clearly cause distress by threat of mass destruction for his own amusement, and then uses the excuse 'oh but it was a joke' when they come for him. I don't find much sympathy for his outcome as anyone with a brain can see how making such remarks (especially in a medium like a message post) can and will be interpreted for what it specifically states.

Oh common, of course it wasn't a literal comment that he made.

No rational person would see that as a genuine threat. Would a person who blogged something on Facebook really have true intentions of blowing up an airport, especially the way it was phrased? Cut the man some slack. I know I've done and said a lot of stupid things in the moment, then upon reflection wonder, what was I thinking. I fortunately didn't get a felony and fines when I did. Which is beside the point, the reaction they had towards this guy is so over dramatic it would put Richard Simmons to shame.

ignore this
