I am sure that the paramedics will think long and hard about their actions if they get punished-- paid leave really makes you think. Plus, the fact that rescue workers are now required to go all the way to a caller's door? The fact that it wasn't required in the first place goes to show that government rules and regulations are useless and arbitrary in the first place. In a Free Market Utopia, paramedics would have a real incentive to go all the way when people call: they wouldn't make money if they got 100 yards away and then gave up.
