Fleming did nothing illegal – yet he was brutalized by people who had been prepared to kill him, and could have done so without consequences. Such is life in our Homeland Security State.

pilot is correct
pablokoh 18 weeks 1 day 15 hours 9 min ago
The pilot was correct when he said there is no such thing as a no fly zone in the US. There are flight restriction zones where pilots can get clearance to fly into with proper notifications or permissions.
I appreciate what you are saying but...

The article clearly states, "There is no such thing as a domestic "no-fly zone," secret or otherwise."
The "or otherwise" is the inaccurate part.
But, like I said, I still agree with the spirit of the article.

Sorry, I did it too...
There are plenty of domestic "no-fly zones".

The report isn't exactly accurate.
They exist all over the United States, mostly over military installations, and areas that may be deemed sensitive targets (e.g. Petroleum Refineries and power plants).
I work at such an installation and if ever an unscheduled flight happens over our airspace we are to immediately report this action to local law enforcement and the USCG.

Sorry for the repeats. I kept getting a timeout and didn't realize my reply had already been posted.

Military installations and other restricted air spaces are clearly marked on flight maps. The author says the charges against this person for violating a "secret no-fly zone" were dropped because it was *not* so marked. From the article, "The charges were dismissed after he showed the investigators that the zone wasn’t marked in aviation charts"
