An older story came to my attn via moxnews fb post. The thing that jumped out at me was the Army's explanation that troops on U.S. soil could only be allowed their weapons on approval by Secty of Defense for defensive use & heavy weapons are incl in their arsenal. In light of recent news stories showing how police are exonerated because "I thought he had a gun" and newspeak like "pre-emptive defensive conflict" the "defensive use only" claim strikes me as untrustworthy.
