If you want prosperity for the many-- and why should the many support any other goal?-- you need a balance between government and business. For this you need several things: A)Ok liberal expert, let's hear your solutions... The rule of law. That means regulations, effective police, and fair courts. 1)Courts are "fair"? How come existing "regulations" usually fail these days? "Effective police"? Yeah right! Who said libertarians are against laws anyway? Consumer trust. That means that abuse and fraud are prosecuted. 2) It would be in a libertaraian society and restitution would be the goal. Honestly, do our present governmental consumer protection agencies do that great a job? Responsive government and business. That means democracy, stockholder and union rights, and a free press. 3)Democracy: rule by the ignorant masses? Free press? Yeah right! Stockholders do have rights and libertarians are not against collective bargaining in the workplace. More against union abuses and obstruction to those who want to work. Let the workers work out a contract with the company and it will be enforced. Competition. Monopolies charge higher rates, stifle innovation, abuse dependent companies, and provide lousy service. (The robber barons of the 1800s were explicitly after monopolies, and they wanted them in order to raise profits.) 4)Of course, but big government and lobbying just lead the way to our current system of "corporatism" and this guy's hero Obama is in bed with Wall street and corporations just like many Republicans! Big government helps create monopolies since it drives smaller competitors out. A wide-based business pyramid-- not just a few multinationals on top. Smaller companies are usually the engine of innovation and city development, and the biggest producers of new jobs. 5)True, but with corporatism and big government corruption, it is not likely. Show me where liberals support business and entrepreneurship and small businesses? Wait, that small business is violating code, it needs more regulation, too bad it can't afford lawyers to create loopholes, wait, you have to pay high wages no matter the level of job with free benefits, self employment taxes, union rights, wait how many percent minorities are working for you--- that's it, lawsuit! I can go on... No barriers to social rising or business innovation (e.g. racism, monopolies, "licensing" whose only purpose is to protect existing business, unavailable loans or courts, an out-of-reach education system, bribes, mafias). 6)When the dollar is destroyed and the rich evil capitalists leave, there will be some social rising! Like liberal's big government is doing a great job to encourage business innovation?
