Woman detained for 12 hours with her kids left in the car, can't sue

http://www.baltimoresun.com

Eyrania Smith was detained on an outstanding warrant at a Baltimore County police station after she was stopped for a speeding violation. They took her to the precinct and cuffed her to a pole by her wrist and ankle while they left her two kids in the car on the side of the road. Turns out that warrant was bogus in the first place. A judge has ruled that so many people were responsible for this mistake that no individuals can be held liable.

Let's change the scenario just a bit:

Some parent leaves their two kids in the car to go into a mall and grab something. The police come by and see two kids "abandoned" in a car.

Would they hesitate an instant to charge the parent with child endangerment, abandonment, or some other variation?

What a crock of SHIT that the cops can dump and their hands stay clean. Government police is a failed experiment. It's been almost 200 years, I think we've had enough time to figure this out: Abolish it!
