Postal Service tries to find its cool factor; Issues clothing line

http://www.reuters.com

The federal government's mail transport and delivery agency this week said it will roll out a line of apparel and accessories it plans to sell in department and specialty stores. The "Rain Heat & Snow" brand of clothing, named after the Postal Service's motto trumpeting its carriers' determination to overcome whatever Mother Nature can throw at them, would put USPS in the "cutting edge of functional fashion," it said.

Half of Detroit property owners refuse to pay property taxes

http://www.detroitnews.com

"Why pay taxes?" asked Fred Phillips, who owes more than $2,600 on his home on an east-side block where five owners paid 2011 taxes. "Why should I send them taxes when they aren't supplying services? It is sickening. … Every time I see the tax bill come, I think about the times we called and nobody came."

TSA Shenanigans on my way to Liberty Forum

http://silverunderground.com

I approached the security checkpoint at the San Jose airport, sent all my personal property into the black hole of the x-ray conveyor belt and looked around for an opt-out line, but I didn’t see one. I asked a friendly TSA agent (we’ll call him “Tiny”) where the opt-out line was and he said, “You’re in the opt-out line.”

Confused I asked, ”Isn’t this the body scanner line?” and Agent Tiny told me, “Just step through the backscatter machine and they’ll screen you on the other side.”

Every American could be arrested for the drugs made by their own brain

http://www.naturalnews.com

Federal law: Every living American can be arrested right now for felony possession of drugs made in their own brains
If you are reading this, you are guilty of felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

This is not a joke.

You, like everyone else who is alive and breathing, can be arrested right now by the U.S. federal government, charged with felony possession, then proven "guilty" of that possession because you do possess a Schedule I substance in your own brain.

Young, Liberal and Open to Big Government

http://www.nytimes.com

Under-30 voters are “the only age group in which a majority said the government should do more to fix problems,” the nonpartisan Pew Research Center reported in November. In a Pew survey a year earlier, more than 8 in 10 said they believed that Social Security and Medicare had been good for the country, and they were especially supportive of seeing the programs overhauled so they would be intact when they retire. (Young people were also more open than their elders to privatizing the programs.)

New Orleans cops rough up teens then just walk away

http://www.fox8live.com

"We were just sitting there laughing and out of nowhere, I saw two guys grab Ferd," says Newman. "All of a sudden, I'm on the wall. A whole bunch of people just came up and threw me up against the wall," says Hunt. Those people were plain clothes law enforcement officers, nine of them State Troopers and one NOPD officer. The two young men were taken down to the ground. Hunt's mother does approach and the two young men are allowed to get up. Not long after releasing the two men, the plain clothes officers simply walked away.

Proposed WA gun law calls on police to inspect homes of gun owners

http://www.theblaze.com

Now, Democratic lawmakers in Olympia, Wash. last week introduced legislation that would allow county sheriffs to inspect the homes of semi-automatic rifle owners once a year. Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat describes the move as “Orwellian.”

I work with a "conservative" reserve deputy sheriff, he says that he would inspect home if the sheriff instructed him to, because it is, after all, the law. I asked him if he remembered much about the stamp act. He just looked at me with utter confusion.
