CORPUS CHRISTI — A former Corpus Christi police officer took a plea deal on Monday for jail time and probation for molesting a 15-year-old girl last year.

Julian Vasquez, 47, pleaded guilty to three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony.
As part of the deal, Vasquez was sentenced to 90 days in jail and six years deferred adjudication probation.

Spottedcrow, 26, was arrested and charged for selling $31 in marijuana to a police informant in December 2009 and January 2010. Starr, 51, was also charged. Because children were in the home, a charge of possession of a dangerous substance in the presence of a minor was added.

In blind pleas before a judge, Spottedcrow received a 12-year sentence and her mother received a 30-year suspended sentence. Neither had prior criminal convictions.

On Tuesday, Staff Sgt. Frank G. Wuterich was sentenced to a maximum of 90 days in prison, but avoided any time in the brig because of a plea deal. The military judge was obligated to abide by the arrangement between prosecutors and defense attorneys, which amounts to a reduction in rank -- to private -- and a pay cut.

Rosalina Gonzales plead guilty to a felony charge of injury to a child for what prosecutors had described as a "pretty simple, straightforward spanking case." As part of the plea deal, Gonzales will serve five years probation, during which time she'll have to take parenting classes, follow CPS guidelines, and make a $50 payment to the Children's Advocacy Center.

On September 8, Gregory Koger was sentenced to 300 days in jail for videotaping a brief political statement at a public event in Skokie, IL. When Gregory was asked to stop, he put down his video camera. Trespass charges were brought because he started filming with his iPhone. But videotaping is not a crime! Filming has nothing to do with the legal definition of trespass. The trespass law states that you must be ordered to leave, and then show that you intend to remain after you have been given notice to leave.
