Don't think you need a government? London police are instructed to keep an eye on you. A brief sent out from the Westminster Counter-Terrorist Focus Desk this week contains this gem: “Anarchism is a political philosophy which considers the state undesirable, unnecessary, and harmful, and instead promotes a stateless society, or anarchy. Any information relating to anarchists should be reported to your local Police.”

"Although many anarchists are law abiding, there is a history in the Pacific Northwest of some anarchists participating in property destruction and other criminal activity in support of their philosophy," the affidavit reads, according to the newspaper.

The Trouble With Socialist Anarchism

The new movie "V for Vendetta" has provoked public discussion of the meaning of anarchism. Murray Rothbard was an advocate of the stateless society, but he was never accepted by the anarchist movement and is still considered more a "capitalist lackey" than anarchist thinker. Indeed, anarcho-capitalism has always been considered an oxymoron by the self-proclaimed "true" anarchists.

Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu is blaming "criminals and anarchists" who, he said, disguised themselves as Canucks fans for riots after the team lost the NHL's Stanley Cup finals.

London's Metropolitan Police want neighbours to spy on and report anarchists to them!

In its 2004 report, the 9/11 Commission called for "a board within the executive branch to oversee adherence to the privacy guidelines we recommend and the commitment the government makes to defend our civil liberties." President Obama waited until last December, halfway through his term, to nominate anyone for the board.

The Keene Activity Center (KAC) is a place where (mostly) young libertarians and anarchists in Keene, New Hampshire congregate to talk philosophy, plan activism (including civil disobedience), and generally relax and socialize. Apparently the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been trying very, very hard to infiltrate the KAC, judging from this account of the arrest of one of the club’s members, Rich Paul, on marijuana charges.

Apparently a few law enforcers went undercover dressed as anarchists to make it look like a not so peaceful protest. The real protestors were PEACEFUL.

This story is what happens when violence responds to violence. I find this quote disturbing, "Members of so-called patriot groups don't recognize the authority of the U.S. government and consider themselves sovereign citizens."

Will those proclaiming sovereignty as individuals be seen through the a slanted media lens as inherently violent?
