As it is portrayed on FTL, the bitcoin store is all about serving the bitcoin community, i.e. "selling for cost." lol Seriously? The store is selling/gambling on upward valuation. It's not a "charity" type enterprise at all. It hedges it's sales on the hope that what it takes in low bitcoin value will be able to sell back to legitimate currency at a far greater rate.

There are many businesses out there right now willing to trade all kinds of services and goods for bitcoin, but this is just the beginning! Many entrepreneurs are only now starting to learn about bitcoin. Almost everyday a new bitcoin businesses is lunched, some of them totally unique, and some of them a competitor to existing bitcoin businesses...

Lets talk about:

Each dot is a bitcoin address ("Hello!" when it appears). There is a line between dots when there is a transaction between them ("Transfer"). The size of the dots represent the amount of "influence" that address has (PageRank). It is sized relative to the probability that a bitcoin will end up in that address given the transactions that have been seen.

Bitcoin Friday! This is a Pre-Black Friday of sorts. A one day sale event at all Bitcoin merchants along with a unified attempt at advertising Bitcoin businesses. This means we need your help in two ways: please buy something with your bitcoins and please tell the world that Bitcoin businesses exist!

At about 27 minutes in (Click "Read" link to fast forward), Evan, calls Bitcoin a "flash in the pan." He says that governments can just pass a statute that allows either party to void a contract backed by bitcoin. So contract law would not support a bitcoin economy.

Over the years, Bitcoin has experienced ups and downs; the currency has been targeted by hackers and thieves and botnets and been victim to more than one embarrassing software glitch. But it has persevered, and this week, one can fairly say that Bitcoin came of age. On Monday, the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network released its first “guidance” as to how “de-centralized virtual currencies” should fit into the larger regulatory regime under which currencies of all kinds are required to operate.
