Carrying less than half an ounce of pot is no longer a crime in Connecticut, but there are people who are still being prosecuted for doing exactly that.
The reason is they were busted before Connecticut's new decriminalization law took effect this month and some state prosecutors are pushing for convictions in some of those cases.
"I don't know why they're taking this hard-line approach," says Aaron Romano, aBloomfield lawyer who is a member of the legal team for the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML). Romano represents one client facing prosecution for a minor pot bust in April.
"It doesn't make sense," Romano adds.
State officials disagree.
