28% of adults believe it is at least somewhat likely that some states will try to leave the United States and form an independent country over the next 25 years or so; just 21% of voters nationwide believe the government today has the consent of the governed.

I am working toward making this happen though I must admit I am currently too mired in the system. Still, I no longer consent.

Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that voters overwhelmingly prefer a free market economy to an economy managed by the government and think government economic control helps big businesses at the expense of small ones.

Devastating news from Rasmussen Reports for the FTC's "Reinventing Journalism" project, as fully 85 percent of the respondents to a national telephone survey say protecting freedom of the press is more important than saving existing newspapers. Perhaps even more worrisome for the FTC is the fact that only 19 percent of the respondents think it's appropriate for the government to be involved in efforts to prop up existing newspapers.

Only 22 percent of Americans say they trust the government "just about always" or "most of the time," according to the Pew Research Center survey released on Sunday.

Maybe she was channeling Locke and Jefferson. Anyway, it is interesting to see these kinds of messages popping up in movies and car commercials.

On Thursday, Washington became the first state to officially legalize marijuana, soon to be followed by Colorado as their new laws legalizing the drug for recreational use go into effect. A survey out Friday shows what Americans want the federal government to do about the states whose drug laws clash with national laws: Leave them alone. Fifty-one percent of Americans in the new HuffPost/YouGov poll said that in the two states that have legalized marijuana use for adults, the federal government should exempt any adults following state laws from federal drug law enforcement.
