A judge on Thursday freed two men who spent three decades in prison before DNA evidence showed they didn't rape a woman and cut her throat in a grisly 1979 attack. The men initially confessed and then recanted.

Marc Emery, well-known Canadian marijuana activist and founder of Cannabis Culture Magazine, was sentenced today by a federal judge to five years behind bars in a US prison.

"Federal District Court Judge Suzanne Conlon has dismissed an ACLU challenge to the Illinois law that makes recording someone in a public space without their permission a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison."

Judge Elgan Edwards QC of Chester Crown Court sentenced 20-year-old Jordan Blackshaw and 22-year-old Perry Sutcliffe-Keenan this week to four years in prison for their failed attempts to use Facebook to incite riots in the UK. The judge said he hoped the sentences would act as a deterrent.

"Michael Green has spent the last 27 years in prison after being convicted on a rape charge. Green's conviction was overturned and a judge ordered that he be released from prison. That was supposed to happen on Thursday morning. For now, he's still in the Harris County Jail. After the family waited for the hearing to begin, they were told they'll have to wait another day. The reason was because Green was too emotional about being released.

SANFORD, Fla.— A man who defied officials for more than 13 years by refusing to remove airplane parts and other junk from his yard was sentenced to three years in prison.

Alan Wayne Davis, 49, had been placed on house arrest in September after serving nearly a year in prison for illegal dumping and creating and maintaining a public nuisance.

On Monday, a judge sentenced Davis to three years in prison for violations of his house arrest, including failing to return home from work on time and keeping part of a World War II fighter plane in his yard.
