Massachusetts special-needs facility is believed to be the only one in the world that uses 'aversive therapy' in treating children - The UN's special rapporteur on torture has made a formal approach to the US government over a special-needs school near Boston that inflicts electric shocks on autistic children as a form of behavioural control. Juan Mendez has told the Guardian that he has opened discussions with the US mission to the UN in Geneva as a first step towards investigating the school.

Wrong on several levels, it is humiliating, and it was organized by Rosemount High School administrators. And, yes, it took place in view of the children at the school, because it was during an assembly. The students were blindfolded, and then told that “someone” was going to kiss them. The “someone” was their own parents.
What is it with public (read: GOVERNMENT) schools lately? Are they trying to screw up our kids?

Great article on how more and more government-school cops are using tasers as well as pepper-spray against "problem" students, and thereby normalizing the use of violence to control the behaviour of children. The is a very disturbing and dangerous trend.

Parents in Australia are trying to sue the school system for their children not making good grades. This short video tells what lead up to it and plays the hilarious and intelligent phone message they recorded to handle the backlash. I really think its worth a listen.

But according to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, Lila M. Ferguson, 38, and Molly M. Williams, 42, committed a crime – neglect of a dependent – by depriving the children of an education. According to court records, the offense was largely characterized by a failure to provide records on the children’s educational progress as they claimed to home-school their children.

When will parents learn? You don't know what's best for your kids - the government bureaucrats do. At least Chicago is thinking of the children by banning kids from bringing school lunches from home. Whew!

The Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) in Canton, MA, uses cruel "aversive therapy" on children with autism, depression, and mental retardation. It's the only school in the US that allows painful shocks of children, sometimes tying them down for long sessions of shocks. None of these "aversive therapies" have ever been proven to work with the mentally ill children who are forced into the JRC.
