Seven months after being freed from prison in Iran, Bauer began investigating solitary confinement in the United States. Now, in his first major article since his release for Mother Jones magazine, Bauer finds California prisoners are being held for years in isolation based on allegations they are connected to prison gangs.

A man who spent two years in solitary confinement (without a trial) after getting arrested for DWI was awarded $22 million for suffering inhumane treatment in New Mexico's Dona Ana County Jail.

DWI = 2 years in Solitary Confinement. Man was pulled over in New Mexico and arrested for DWI. While at the station being entered in to the system the police noticed that he was mentally unstable. So instead of calling in a dr they throw him in solitary confinement which is where he stayed for the next 22 months.

An award winning reporter who is suing the Obama administration over the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which legislates for the ‘indefinite detention’ of American citizens without trial, is appalled at the lack of media coverage of the issue.

Over at some site called Redif Blog a user named Randall Bergeron is offering a high quality download of the Silver Circle Movie. There’s just one problem. We haven’t uploaded it anywhere. We’re close, but not that close. The weirdest thing is the description of the film. In the first line he writes ”They still have midnight showings where audience members dress the parts and act out the movie,” but that’s a line pulled from a description of the Rocky Horror Picture show I wrote a few weeks ago.

A man held in solitary confinement for two years and forced to pull his own tooth because he was denied dental care has been awarded $22million for violation of his constitutional rights.

Stephen Slevin, 58, from New Mexico, was given the payout after accusing Dona Ana County jail of essentially forgetting about him after he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, not giving him the healthcare he needed and treating him inhumanely.

The settlement is one of the largest federal civil rights awards in history involving an inmate.

Recently, there has been a victory and a defeat regarding the indefinite detention provision of the Fiscal Year (FY)2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges filed a lawsuit against President Obama and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta claiming the provision, as applied, violates the 1st and 5th Amendments. U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest not only gave Hedges standing to challenge the law, she also issued an injunction to halt the legalized kidnappings!

Behind the scenes part of the mission of Silver Circle is educational. The premiere event will take place at Cinema Village East in NYC from March 22nd through March 28th. Showings will be held at 1:00pm, 3:00pm, 7:10pm, and 9:15pm on each day of the premiere event.
