HOUSTON, TX — Houston’s homeless are still hungry, and those who want to feed them are still at odds with City Hall, since City Council approved an ordinance that prevents giving food to the hungry at will.

On August 19th Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer announced that he will drop the charges against the recently arrested Food Not Bombs activists. This includes 25 people charged with violating Orlando’s Large Group Feeding Ordinance as well as two trespass arrests.

Bernard Kerik, the corrupt former NYPD commissioner, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison. The 54-year-old former top-cop had pleaded guilty back in November, and instead of getting the initial 33 month prison sentence recommendation that was made between Kerik and prosecutors, Judge Stephen Robinson decided he deserved a lot more than that, sending a clear, strong message to the general public that corruption will not be tolerated.

A man in New York was sentenced to 15 days in jail for violating his city's ordinance regulating electronic billboard messages.

The new ordinance prohibits people from feeding the animals at urban parks and sets out fines for violators. Nobody can "feed, touch, tease, frighten, hunt, kill, wound or intentionally disturb wildlife in any city park," without authorization, the ordinance states.

Anyone caught running afoul of the law, however well-meaning his or her intentions, faces fines of up to $750 and jail time...

Federal authorities filed the civil rights charge after a Jackson County judge placed Burgess on probation. Burgess had pleaded guilty in Jackson County Circuit Court to charges of statutory sodomy and sexual assault for his actions during the July 2007 incident.

"He was driving an estimated 56 mph, nearly twice the speed limit...He was issued two citations: speeding and negligent driving. He pleaded guilty to the former, and a judge found him not guilty of the latter, saying there was no evidence of errant driving beyond speed. Cokinos was fined $160, and he went forward with his career on the force."
