Vaccines in the state of Massachusetts may soon be tracked via a centralized registry, The Boston Globe reports ... [i]ronically, Massachusetts, the birthplace of public vaccination programs, is one of two states without statewide registries to track who gets vaccinated, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. New Hampshire is the other state without such a registry.

Massachusetts department of transportation handed out about 900 speeding tickets on a newly created stretch of road. The issue is that they did not follow their own laws around setting speed limits and enforcing them.

They have publicly admitted to the tickets being illegal and unenforceable, but when asked about possible refunds, they basically told the media that you would have to take them to court if you want your money back.

the illegality is due to the the state not performing an engineering study to determine the maximum safe speed for the stretch of road.

A’fore ye register f’r some lilly-livered party like the “Democrats” or “Republicans,” ye might want to consider signin’ on with the state’s newest crew: the Massachusetts Pirate Party. That’s right, the Massachusetts Election Division has officially approved the swashbuckling party as a political designation, meaning voters can now register as a “Pirate,” Raw Story reports.

The MHA employs 45 people, a small number of whom do smoke. They were encouraged to quit and offered help while the new policy was discussed over the past several months. After January 1, the new rule will rely on the honor system for enforcement.
The hospital association policy “goes beyond the idea of corporate wellness to say ‘We are simply going to cleanse the workforce of anyone who has a particular unhealthy behavior." The same reasoning behind the new employment policy could exclude people who eat poorly, skip seat belts, or use tanning salons.

The Massachusetts Election Division has approved the Massachusetts Pirate Party as a political designation, allowing voters in the state to register as a "Pirate."

Beginning Monday, the new ban will expand those restrictions to prohibit out-of-state firewood movement to all lands in New Hampshire. Only approved heat-treated firewood that has been properly packaged and labeled or firewood transported with a compliance agreement from select counties in Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts may enter the state.

SPRINGFIELD - Under Massachusetts gun laws, considered by some to be among the most strict in the nation, a person convicted of assault and battery on a police officer could not obtain a license to carry a firearm.

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch has signed Rep. Jenn Coffey’s Knife Rights Bill into law, removing restrictions on switchblades, dirks, daggers and stilettos in Hew Hampshire and essentially removing all restrictions on knives in New Hampshire state law. New Hampshire now has no knife laws which stop law abiding citizens from buying, selling, owning, carrying, possessing, transporting, collecting, or lawfully using any type of knife. This is the first complete repeal of a state's knife restrictions ever.

Some towns in Massachusetts have given up enforcing the state's marijuana law which decriminalized the possession of small amounts of pot, saying the law is written with too many loopholes to be effective.
