New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) has become the latest leader to condemn the now 40-year-old war on drugs. "The war on drugs, while well-intentioned, has been a failure," Christie said Monday during a speech at The Brookings Institution. "We're warehousing addicted people everyday in state prisons in New Jersey, giving them no treatment." Christie stressed the merits of legislation recently passed by New Jersey state lawmakers that institutes a year of mandatory treatment for first-time, nonviolent drug offenders instead of jail time.

Does happiness rise with income? In one of the more scientific attempts to answer that question, researchers from Princeton have put a price on happiness. It's about $75,000 in income a year.

They found that not having enough money definitely causes emotional pain and unhappiness. But, after reaching an income of about $75,000 per year, money can't buy happiness. More money can, however, help people view their lives as successful or better.

Highest Number Of Anti-Gay Murders Ever Reported In 2011: The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs - More murders motivated by anti-gay bias occurred last year than any year since the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs began collecting data in 1998, the national advocacy organization reported this week. In 2011, 30 fatally violent hate crimes were committed against lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender victims, 3 more than the previous year's total.

A 20-year-old Ohio woman has been charged with raping a teenage boy at knife point. Janice Nichole Phillips of Union Township, Ohio is alleged to have held the 14-year-old boy hostage at knife-point. Phillips ordered the boy into her apartment where he was forced to perform sex acts. Police said the boy was not physically harmed during the ordeal.

Police find YouTube vids of a 43 year old smoking weed with 20 year old and 17 year old sons and throw him in jail for it.

A St. Petersburg, FL police officer was speeding 21 MPH over the limit, hit an old man in a wheelchair. He killed the man and was fired. Now, if anyone else did that, they'd be put in a cage. After a year off the job, he was given his job back WITH the year of back pay while he off! What a bunch of crap!

A14 year old kid was fighting at a bus stop. When officer Alvarado approached the bus stop, the 14 year old ran away. The police officer was not going to allow someone as dangerous as a 14 year old kid to roam the streets so he chased the kid down and shot him (killing him in the process)
