Poisonous alcohol still kills—16 people died just this month after drinking lethal booze in Indonesia, where bootleggers make their own brews to avoid steep taxes—but that's due to unscrupulous businessmen rather than government order.

I don't suppose the "steep taxes" had anything to do with it.

NEW YORK – The New York Police Department is investigating why it took more than eight hours for a police officer suspected of drunken driving to be given a blood-alcohol test. Rafael Casiano crashed his car at about 4:30 a.m. Friday in the Bronx while off duty. Another officer riding with him with was hospitalized with a head injury.
