Fort Worth, Texas— Cindy and Mark Boling are trying to understand why their dog, Lillie, a Border collie mix they've had for five years is now dead -- shot and killed in their own yard by a Fort Worth police officer. "My dog was standing there looking like I got a new friend and he turned and shot her in the back", Mark Boling said. "He literally has ripped our hearts out", Cindy Boling said.

The Bolings say they didn't get an apology and don't expect to get one, but they do want answers so this doesn't happen to someone else.

I can't blame someone for avoiding taxes, unless they are a blatant statist who encourages new taxes at every opportunity. This is hypocrisy to a T.

"Why pay taxes?" asked Fred Phillips, who owes more than $2,600 on his home on an east-side block where five owners paid 2011 taxes. "Why should I send them taxes when they aren't supplying services? A judge scolded former Perkasie Councilman Joseph P. Schiaffino, who was held for trial after a hearing on charges he did not pay state income taxes in 2005 and 2006.

Charged with tax evasion, Joseph P. Schiaffino admits he has not paid personal income tax since 1996, but the former Perkasie Borough councilman says he is confident that he will not go to prison.
